Balloon in the Clouds

For those of you who know me, you know that I have the tendency to never finish things.  This is something that I have always felt bad about but somehow I just get wrapped up in a new idea on a daily basis.  I feel excited about my ideas and I float off into a bubble of creative thought only to be popped before I reach the clouds.   If I could diagnose myself, I think I would classify this as the inability to commit through completion.  Luckily, I am a people pleaser and a woman of my word so if I commit to another human being, I typically follow through. Its just my world that is full of popped balloons.

I did not make any official new years resolutions because I am just not that type of girl, obviously!  I thought about saying I would work out more but who am I kidding. I haven't stepped foot in a gym for over 6 months and I only went then because my husband was dragging me by the shoe strings.  I have made one goal for myself though.  I have decided that this year will be a year full of finished projects, ideas and thoughts.

I have already taken my very first step towards success. Its small so don't get too amped up.  We moved into our house over a year ago.  I was in the nesting phase for a few months but then I got distracted by life.  I have had packages of curtains sitting on my desk for OVER a year! I sit here everyday for about 6 hours, looking at my bare windows and thinking I should put those darn curtains up.  I did attempt once but I couldn't find the drill so I moved on.  This morning I hung the curtains. Go me! I cheer for myself often but mostly in my head.  I probably won't share every single completed task because that would be boring but if I conquer something big in 2010, you will hear about it. Trust me.

Green thumb?

I do not have a green thumb but I thought that I would at least try a house plant.  Here it is...its been 2 weeks and its still alive. I think its a fern...I hear they are hard to kill, so we'll see.  Baby steps.

So Hungry!!

You know those nights when you have no idea what you want to eat?  No restaurant sounds good and nothing you make sounds good(especially since I only know how to make 3 things and they all involve noodles and a jar of sauce) so you just sit there starved and perplexed.  Well, we had one of those evenings last night.  Hungry and confused we headed to the grocery store.  After about an hour of perusing everything from flowers to poochpouri(really?) we walked out with the following items:
  • A nutcracker
  • Califonia Roll with Cream cheese
  • 7 Layer dip
  • A block of pink cheese
  • Izze Pomegranite Soda
  • Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad
  • Tamales
I have enough food for three days and I will eat it in no apparent order.

Lazy Bones

I found these adorable doggie beds this weekend.  They have classy fabric covers that are machine washable and the beds have been tested by real pups that just love them!  I think that everyone needs a Lazy Bones Bed in their home.

I want the Peabody in Eaton Blue.

Look how comfy this puppy is!

And of course, a toy to match.

Infomercials

Something from an infomercial that actually works!

The PedEgg is quite fantastic.  Trust me I had my doubts, in fact I did not buy this little invention for myself. I have seen it everywhere and like all other items sold by the millions, I ignored it....for years.  This Christmas, Annie gave all the girls a PedEgg and told us to trust her.  I did and she was right.  I could almost give up pedicures cold turkey. I said almost, Bobby.

This is the part where I show you my feet for proof.  Don't worry, I am not going to prove it to you in photos.

Oh wait...I just did! But in a completely unrelated photo. This photo is to let you know that I wish I was at the beach.

Peppermint Ice Cream

I just got out of a hot shower and I feel like I want to go to sleep.  I know, its eight o'clock at night and I am just showering! Luckily, I spilled hot fudge in my hair last night while I was eating my peppermint icecream cake.  Sooo, I smelled extra sweet all day.  I know by now you are judging me for not taking a shower all day.  Either you are jealous that I work from home and don't have to exist with the rest of the world in a cube or you feel terribly sorry for my husband.  Before you completely cement your opinion of me, let me explain our fortunate discovery.

We barely averted a disastrous mess when we noticed that our water heater had seen much better days.  If we had waited a mere 48 hours, we may have had soaked carpet and floppy drywall.  Thank you Lord that we discovered the problem in time.  Normally such a huge unexpected cost would put my stomach in knots but we have a home warranty.  If you don't have one and your house is not brand spankin new, then you should get one!  I paid $60.00 today for my water heater.  Thats it.  Amazing.

I just realized I blogged about a water heater.
I must be an adult. Oh Man,when did I grow up?

For those of you that are disappointed the main topic wasn't ice cream. Click here and you too can have ice cream in your hair!

Five Trees

We took a drive throught the country this weekend.  It was beautiful and lovely and the air was clean.  The craziest part of the whole day was that we were only 20 minutes from our house!  Insane how different the terrain appeared and how calm we felt in the open.  I felt alive and recharged.  I was amazed that this beautiful scape God created was within reach.  I wanted to own Texas!  I was ready to move out to the prairie and grow my own veggies.  Of course, that is soo me.  I am 100% commited to my feelings when I feel them.

Once we got home, I was completely happy in my suburban digs but I'm looking forward to our next drive.

Lost Lexi

I know, I know....its been so very long since I have posted a single blog.  The last month has been spent with family and friends and the open roads of Texas! I think I celebrated Christmas about 6 times this year and it was soo fun! I was able to spend sweet time with many family members and it just wore me right out! I say that in the best way. I love them and I feel so blessed.  But for the last week I have tried to sleep in my bed for at least 9 hours a night, just to make up for lost time.  I missed my bed oh so much.

I also think that I traumitized my dogs so much that Lexi ran away on sheer principle.  It was the worst 10 minutes of panic I have EVER felt.  Seriously.  The neighbor boy showed up on my door step with my fluffy white pup and I practically smothered him. I was so frazzled.  I downed a soda and ate an entire stash of emergency chocolate.  And then I took a nap.  Wiped out.  I have been thanking God all day for bringing my puppy back.  God knew that I could not have handled even 11 minutes of searching for my little chubby pup.

The details of the search are quite funny now that I have my Lexi perched on the couch with me as I type. But I will spare you, mostly to protect the innocent. I realize that this does not seem like a huge problem to most.  And maybe I sound a little dramatic but they are my babies.  They are all I have...besides Bobby of course :)
