Long-winded Tile

So we did a mini remodel a few months ago to bring our early ninetys digs into the new millenium.  We really wish with all our hearts that we were DIYers but it seems everytime we try, we have an epic fail.  The whole remodel started with the shiny white tile that screamed at people upon entering into our house.  Don't get me wrong, I love white but shiny white and on the floor just does not work with me.  So Bobby took the jack hammer and the hammer and the flat level scraper thing (notice my lack of proper term usage) and that tile was not budging.  So we went to get our older and wiser neighbor.  Tony brought lots of tools and things that looked heavy duty and left them for Bobby to use.  Now with the proper equipment, Bobby went back at it....for 16 hours!!!  He accomplished the entry way and was done with DIY.  I waited for the motivation to hit him again but after a few weeks of cold concrete I called in the backups.  Now, when I say backups, please know that I got a killer of a deal.  And also know that we already had all of the stuff picked out and purchased. The deal was so killer in fact, that the entryway turned into the kitchen that turned into the bathroom and the laundry room and while we're at it, do you guys know how to paint?  Have I mentioned that I love my husband.

All this talk and this is just the intro. Man, I am long-winded today!  I think I might make this a couple entries so all you ADD people can get through it.  My real drama at the moment involves a very moody sink. I shall tell you tomorrow maybe. For now, here is a picture of the entry way. Not too exciting but a paragraph with no pictures can be laaame.

My husband Bob

I really don't give my sweet husband enough credit, mainly because he is a manly man and it makes him feel quite uncomfortable.  But today, I am going to make him feel uncomfortable!  I have been sick all weekend and he has brought me water and soup and tissues.  He folded the laundry that I fell asleep doing.  He somehow made my random pieces of curtain rod parts fit together and hung my curtains.  This required 3 trips to Lowes, a metal cutting saw and I am sure a lot of him thinking, Why do we NEED curtains? but he never said that outloud.  He even said they make the living room look better.  Big sweet steps for him.  I could stop there but I think that I should really make him blush.

He took me to see Phantom of the Opera last night for date night!  If you know Bobby, then you are probably reading that last sentence over.  Yes, I said Phantom of the Opera.  Poor thing sat through the whole show with me.  He did check his watch after every song and was crossing songs off the program quite diligently but he never complained.  At Intermission he said, "I can honestly say, I have no idea what is going on down there."  Still the Bobby we all love!  The whole way home he sang Beauty and the Beast because he said it was exactly the same.  I love love love him!

Work in Progress

As many of you know, this is my year to finish, complete and conquer all my loose ends. Well, maybe not ALL but as many as possible.  I talked about my little issue in Balloon in the Clouds if you want to catch up.  Anyway, I have yet another small accomplishment to report.  My website is live.  Its not perfect by any means and it definitely needs some tweaking but its up and its out there for the world to see.  Or shall I say for my world to see.  I doubt a random will google Watuzzi!  So, check it out. All Organic and made to order.

Vegas Baby!!

We stayed so very busy in Las Vegas.  I saw the Hoover Dam and the new interstate that they are building through the pass.  No way on earth I will ever drive on that thing. Its going to be the tallest interstate in America. Sounds like the tower of babel to me!  We then explored all the new buildings and things in the city.  The buildings and decor are just amazing.  We were able to meet up with Clint and Amy for dinner at Mon Ami Gabi, a delightful french bistro.  The food was exceptional and the company delightful.  For breakfast, Hash House A Go Go.  The largest portions you have ever seen that taste so amazing you have to unbutton your pants and you still find yourself shoveling food in your mouth.  I somehow managed to follow my meal with a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity.  Can you tell I like love food?

Bobby surprised me with not only one but two shows, The Lion King and O.  Both phenominal productions.  Have I said that I love my husband yet? Because I do!  We almost got remarried in the little white wedding chapel by Elvis (Bobbys life long dream) but we figure we will save that for year marker 25.

So to recap, I ate, I stuffed my face and then I ate some more. And saw shows.  I did not win a million dollars or come back with a 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas' story.  I did bring back a few extra pounds and a couple photos.

World's Tallest Chocolate Fountain. I heart Chocolate.

Yes, I ate it all...well almost.

S'mores Mocha. Amazing.

Bobby's perfect breakfast. What? Its Vegas.

Valentine's Day

I am such a sucker for commercialized holidays.  Especially the ones that involve pink, red and flowers!!  Bobby is not so much a Valentine's Day person but since he married me, he has converted.  True love.

Bobby sent me flowers on Thursday and they were delivered in the snow! What a dedicated delivery man. A beautiful arrangement that had me sneezing my head off! Its the thought that counts. My flowers were promptly relocated to Ali's house.  She is enjoying them right now, as I type.  We had dinner reservations for Sunday at a surprise location.  Bobby wanted to arrange the day for me.  But then my spur of the moment man decided Las Vegas was in order!  So off we went! I love that God pairs us up with partners that compliment our strengths and weaknesses.  I am a planner.  He is spontaneous.

We had a fabulous time.  It was the perfect getaway.  The perfect Valentine's Day.

Rodeo Smarts

  • You can NEVER have too much bling.
  • Always buy the award winning bull. He is auctioned first and the steal of the day.
  • Kids ride sheep. They fall. Thousands laugh at them.
  • There is a Miss Texas Rodeo. She gets to ride a horse in a circle while carrying a flag that says Rotel.
  • You can buy great jeans at killer prices.
  • Babies are cute in pearl snaps and boots.
  • My cows are better than yours.

My Rock

Tonight we celebrate.  We are so greatful for God's love for us and his perfect plan.  He allows us to make our own choices.  He picks us up when we trip and fall.  We have walked in this journey together for only a few years but have learned so much along the way.

As my friend Mika says, "The 'life isn't fair pill' is a hard one to swallow."  Indeed it is, yet at the end of the day God has a plan that is bigger than me and a purpose that is greater than we can ever imagine. Today we focus on the good.  We are thankful for our blessings.  We are thankful for our God given talents.  Above all we are thankful for the hope that we have in Christ alone.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Operation Fence: Day 3

Last night I tossed and turned all night.  The lack of fence is starting to go to my head.  I kept having visions of coyotes hunting itty bitty bunnies in my backyard.  I wished for a huge spot light when I went out with the puppies last night, just in case a mean coyote was lurking in the bushes.  Yes, I do have a big imagination but the 'lurking in the bushes' idea was brought up to me by the contractor.  Only he was saying it would be a funny prank to hide in the bushes.  Clearly, this man does NOT understand the power of my imagination.  Do you think they will build faster if I go and tell the guys that the lack of fence is affecting me?

The forecast for a completed fence by tomorrow is bleak.  Thunderstorms are headed my way.

On a happier note.  Here is my Lexi after her fun day at "daycare" yesterday. Isn't she cute!

Fence Me In, NOW!

We are getting a new fence in the backyard. Ironic really.  My dog ran away a few weeks ago (we got her back) and I was just beside myself that I almost lost her.  But yesterday when all the men were here tearing down and starting on the new fence, the same dog that I cried over a few weeks ago almost got dropped off at the pound.  I want to say that last sentece was a complete joke but that might be a wee little lie.  My dogs are a hyper/sweet combo but you put them in a lock down situation and all hell breaks loose.  Really. I was about to lose my marbles by 4pm and I still had 2 hours left in the day to listen to them cry, bark, yap, growl and want to go outside in the freezing cold to 'do their business.' I realize this is all my fault.  I have not put in the time to train them up in the way they should go.  I think that is scripture.  I have never trained them to poop on command.  Who has the time?  Really?  That is why we have a doggie door.  Anyway, I lived through the day and woke up this morning with a new attitude.

I bundled up this morning and took each dog out one at a time to 'do their business'. We have 3 dogs today since we are watching Cali. This took a mere 45 minutes. Not too bad.  Then it was feeding time.  Very challenging since they all want each others food and require constant monitoring.  We got through that in about 30 minutes.  Whew! I am on a roll.  I walk to the front of the house and BAM! One of them throws up.  Sorry if this is TMI but you are the one who chose to read this.  So, I plug my nose and clean it up, 30 more minutes.  I held my breathe so long I almost passed out.  Luckily, I didn't pass out because my nose started bleeding.  Yeah, its getting worse. It would have looked like a crime scene on CSI, starring 3 super cute puppies and me, in my mismatched pjs and a baseball cap.  So, I did what every good mother does, I took one of them to the groomer.  Its just like daycare only they get a hair cut instead of snack time.  I am now ready to start my day and its almost lunch.

Today, I appreciate all you women with kids.  You are truly amazing and maybe a little nutty.  Yes, I am comparing my dogs to your kids.  Don't be offended.  I do it all the time.
